Who. What. When. Where. Why.

Hello all!
So like I said in my first ever post, I’m very new to this blogging deal. I guess I don’t have a ton to say about what I do because it’s very straight forward. I sell vintage. lol. If you’re someone who’s very into vintage, and you live on the east coat, then you probably know my uncle and his shop in Boston: Bobby From Boston. If you don’t, look it up, its very much worth a trip to Beantown.
This is where it starts. My whole life I grew up around my uncle and his business. My mom started working for him in the 80s and through this she met my father, who is an antique dealer (of course the whole family is into things from yesteryear lol) and through that magical connection I came to be the fabulous lady you read before you.
I never thought I would get into the vintage scene. Let’s be honest, when you’re forced to go to flea markets and thrift shops your whole childhood instead of going to the park, you tend to want to steer clear for the rest of your life. So imagine my surprise when at the age of 24 I found out that I was indeed bitten by the vintage bug!
Now given my height (5’10″) and my dress size (don’t even think about it), you could say that I’m not the typical vintage salesperson. Most of the time your looking at a quirky girl with cat eye glasses, winged eye liner and a 26 inch waist. What I lack in “vintage appearance” I more than make up for with knowledge, i.e. my family lol.
I spend far too much time in Savers and Salvation Army stores these days. I can’t pass up a good treasure hunt, and if you’re anything like me, you love finding out how unaware the people that work in these places are in regards to what they are putting on the shelf for next to nothing. I mean these are people who are putting Missoni on the racks for $6 but Ann Taylor Loft will be right next to it for $20. But alas this is what I love about these places.
I’m learning the in and outs of running a small shop. Promoting is quite a bitch isn’t it? So that’s where this blog comes in. I sometimes post pictures of things I have in my shop, sometimes I’ll just catch you up on my finds and where I’ve been shopping, maybe a few links here and there to some of my friends awesome shops/blogs. And hopefully in return some of you will decide to grace my shop with your internet presence *nudge nudge wink*
So thats it for now. Check out my inventory: www.SemiPreciousGarnetts.etsy.com <3
